BT has just launched their new home hub, and are claiming that it offers the most reliable wireless connection compared to all other UK broadband providers. Now this is a very bold claim, and I’m not too sure how they can substantiate it; but one thing I can say with some degree of certainty, is that the new BT Home Hub is a very good wireless router indeed.
Using the BT’s smart wireless technology, the new Home Hub is able to detect and avoid interference, constantly monitoring the wireless channel, and automatically switching channel if, and when, required. This is much better than my current situation, which involves trolling through all the available channels until I find the one that delivers the best signal strength.
The new Home Hub also loves to save power, only using the equivalent to half the power of an energy-efficient light bulb. The clever Home Hub also detects when the broadband connection is not in use, automatically switching to low power. Again this is much better than my current situation, which requires me to flick my wireless router power switch off every night to save energy.
As you might expect, the new BT Home Hub also offers a strong and reliable signal thanks to utilizing the latest wireless ‘N’ technology. While I haven’t performed any extensive testing of the new Home Hub, I can tell you that from my home, the strongest signal I can get is from a new BT Home Hub, three doors down.
All-in-all the new BT Home Hub is an impressive piece of kit, and I would be very interested to hear your experiences of using it. You can do this by leaving comments below, or alternatively follow the link to find out more information.
