Best Value Fast Broadband Deals for summer 2017

Best value fast broadband deals in 2017

When it comes to fast UK broadband, you can’t get better than fibre.

If you want a connection that can handle whatever you throw at it, you’ll definitely want to look into the fibre options available.

It’s also the most reliable – giving high speeds at even the busiest times of the day.

As fibre broadband is the fastest you can get, it is also the most expensive. As with anything costly, it’s especially important to get the most for your money without compromising on service quality.

Plusnet Unlimited Fibre Extra 18 Month

Online for £20? Cheapest broadband deals in 2017 2

Download Speed: 76Mbps
Details: 18 month contract, unlimited downloads, no calls, £25.00 upfront cost, £6.01 for broadband and £18.99 line rental.

Pros

At just £25.00 a month, Plusnet’s 76Mbps fibre broadband deal is only £5 more a month than many slow ADSL broadband packages.

Plusnet also sport a dedicated 365 days a year support service, keeping you connected even when things go wrong at the most inconvenient times.

Cons

Although this deal is very cheap for the speeds you get, this is a broadband-only package. That means no call plan or bundled TV deal, making this deal the best if you’re just looking for pure broadband.

There are no free extras or goodies that add bonus value to the deal.

The router that’s included is a cheap one, worth only £40. Low-cost routers are lacking in WiFi range and signal strength but, if you can connect your main devices with ethernet cables, you won’t notice this shortcoming.

Average cost: £25.00 a month, £325.00 a year.

Vodafone Unlimited Fibre 76

Best Value Fast Broadband Deals for summer 2017 1

Download Speed: 76Mbps
Details: 18 month contract, unlimited downloads, no calls, no upfront costs, £30.00 for broadband and free line rental.

Pros

Vodafone offer one of the few fibre packages with no extra upfront costs – giving you a rare opportunity to avoid the first-month sting when switching provider.

If you’re unhappy with your current provider but feel trapped by your contract, you can have up to £100 of your termination fees covered by Vodafone when you switch.

As another bonus, you get a free 6 months of antivirus coverage.

Cons

Vodafone offer the best value when it comes to switching broadband provider but unfortunately no call package is included in this deal.

The 6 months of free antivirus might seem like a bargain, but keep in mind that this is an 18 month contract so you’re going to need another year of protection when the free period expires to keep your computer safe.

Average cost: £30.00 a month, £360.00 a year.

Virgin Media Vivid 100 Fibre and Talk Weekends with Player TV

Virgin Media now offering one month broadband deals 8

Download Speed: 100Mbps
Details: 12 month contract, unlimited downloads, free weekend calls, £20.00 upfront cost, £14.01 for broadband and £17.99 for line rental.

Pros

Virgin Media’s cable broadband offers both fast and very reliable speeds, significantly outperforming fibre broadband in every measurable way.

Even though this deal costs only £32.00 a month, both weekend calls and TV services are included – making Virgin one of the cheapest triple-play packages available.

A free 500GB Tivo box is included, letting you record and rewind hours and hours of live TV.

Cons

Virgin’s coverage is still limited, so this excellent deal won’t be available to everybody.

The TV package included is actually just standard Freeview channels that are being sent through cable instead of the air, but the free Tivo box still adds a great deal of value.

The cost of this package goes up to £45.00 a month when the minimum term ends – a very steep increase that you’ll probably want to avoid.

Average cost: £32.00 a month, £404.00 a year.

EE shop sign

Download Speed: 76Mbps
Details: 18 month contract, unlimited downloads, free weekend calls, £32.00 upfront cost, £14.00 for broadband and £18.50 for line rental.

Pros

Like all EE packages, this deal includes 5GB of free mobile data for any EE mobile contract. If you can make use of this free data, you could end up saving a lot of money on your phone.

A call plan with free weekend calls is included.

You get a free 12 month subscription for internet security worth £69.99.

EE’s router is a high-quality piece of equipment worth £175, so you’re unlikely to feel the need to upgrade to a third-party alternative, even if you have high demands for your router.

Cons

This deal will cost you £422.00 for your first year, making it one of the more expensive options on this list.

Similar to Vodafone, EE’s bundled internet security subscription only lasts a year on an 18 month broadband contract, so you’ll need an alternative to cover your last 6 months.

Average Cost: £32.50 a month, £422.00 a year.

TalkTalk TV Plus Starter with Faster Fibre 76

Online for £20? Cheapest broadband deals on the market in 2017

Download Speed: 76Mbps
Details: 18 month contract, unlimited downloads, no calls, £25.00 upfront cost, £5.00 for TV, £31.50 for broadband and free line rental.

Pros

A TV box is included so you can record and rewind live TV.

Cons

At £36.50 a month, this deal is certainly on the expensive side. The TV services are what drives up the price, so if that’s not something you’re interested in then this offer from TalkTalk probably isn’t for you.

Surprisingly, no call plan is included. For the high price tag on this package, weekend calls should really just be thrown in as a bonus.

Average cost: £36.50 a month, £463.00 a year.
